5 QUICK THINGS
Vol. 2 | August 18, 2020
Mood Music: Coffee - Slyvan Esso
ONE: Charlie and I made this Raspberry Lemon Cake from The View From Great Island, and it was to die for. For some reason we have made making layer cakes our "quarantine speciality". We missed that sourdough bread phase somehow...but this is so much better. The cake is fluffy like a muffin and the frosting is creamy and lemony. We topped it with a little lemon decoration made out of fondant and it turned out so darn cute!
TWO: I just finished listening to Untamed by Glennon Doyle as an audiobook, and was so moved by it! This is a must read! It helped me learn to understand myself better, and envision how I want to act toward myself, my spouse, and my future children. Glennon speaks in such a kind and powerful way that teaches you how to dive in and honor your true, untamed self.
THREE: It takes me a long time to commit to new purses and bags, but I had my eye on this adorable basket tote from Vivi et Margot for a while now, and finally decided to hit "add to cart". Now that it's here, I can't tell you how much I love it! It's the perfect bag to take to a farmer's market, to the beach, or for a weekend getaway.
FOUR: Just like everyone else working from home now, I've had a lot of time to think about some house accessories that Charlie and I could use. Top of the list: decorative bread bowl and serving spoons. I found this beautiful wooden trough at Cost Plus World Market, and while it is on the smaller end of wooden troughs, it's the perfect size for what I need and about a 1/5th of the price of the ones I saw at Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn!
FIVE: It's never too early to think about Halloween, in my opinion, and Modcloth has the cutest items out now! This adorable ghost sweater, these little bat earrings and tights, and the ever-classic Wednesday Addams dress. I love summer, but I'm definitely starting to get excited for fall and all of the snuggly clothing and warm drinks.
