ONE: Spiked Peach Jam with Ginger Recipe and Small Batch Cookies- my parents' peach trees have done quite well this year, so now we've turned to doing what you do whenever you have too much of a fruit... make jam! I found this recipe and I absolutely loved it except for the pectin (which turned something delicious into an acidic "Sprite/7-UP" flavor. I recommend trying out making a 1/4th or 1/3rd of this recipe and leaving out the pectin... whatever size you can use in a week or two since you are skipping the preservatives. It's great on scones, toast, shortcake, and small-batch snickerdoodle cookies with vanilla ice cream!
TWO: New Book - I just finished listening to Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid as an audiobook, and really enjoyed it! It's a story about Emira, a 25-year old Black college-grad babysitter who learns about herself and her what she's truly passionate about through navigating her employer (who falls into the "White savior" category), a new boyfriend, and racial prejudice. While I have a few plot critiques that I'll keep to myself to avoid spoilers, I loved the ending. Definitely worth a read!
THREE: Sale Alert! - the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming up (starting August 19th if you do not have early access). Since I'm not leaving the house much, I plan on looking for some nice skincare products to update my routine, and also stock up on some of my favorites like this moisturizer and this sunscreen. Also, who are we kidding... I'm sure some lounge wear will sneak in the cart too because, 'tis the season! #quarantine
FOUR: Favorite Body wash: I just repurchased this bottle of Awake Body Wash by Seaweed Bath Co. since I love it so much! This is without a doubt my favorite body wash I've ever used. It smells like a spa and it completely relaxes me whenever I use it, which is just what I need right now. Another product with that great "spa smell" is Biossance face wash if you're looking for one!
FIVE: This New York Times article about the collapse of the fashion industry is so interesting! If you've ever gone to the mall looking for a basic t-shirt or classic style only to be left wondering why everything is distressed, over-bedazzled, etc. ... here's why!
